How Do You Measure up?

2 But they delight in the law of the L ord , meditating on it day and night. 3 They are like trees planted along the riverbank, bearing fruit each season. Their leaves never wither, and they prosper in all they do.This describes a life lived for the Kingdom of Jesus

4But not the wicked! They are like worthless chaff, scattered by the wind. 5They will be condemned at the time of judgment. Sinners will have no place among the godly. This is what happens to a life not lived for Jesus ‘fame.
(Psalms 1:2-5 NLT)

These scriptures are a fair guideline to measure your life by.
These scriptures alone do not save ones soul, but after one is saved they can keep that soul protected from the enemy who is out to destroy it. (John 10:10)

What an opportunity we have to be reminded that Jesus came to save US all.

What else in scripture reminds you of His faithfulness?

This is How I Start

First, I am not one for the popular route, nor have I been one to set goals.
This is primarily because I don’t know that I have ever achieved something that I have set out to do.
Yes very bleak and quite downing for an intro to a blog.
It turns around I promise!

I am late in preparing on what I would like to achieve this month, and even year.
There are many things before me that I would love to start changing, better yet quitting(positively)!
I suppose with any decent goal their is first a plan of action.
Even before the plan of action there must be a brainstorm.
This will be that brainstorming session.

What comes to mind first is: start something small.
Have the feeling of accomplishment first before climbing ‘Everest’ as some goals may look like from Day number 1.
So I choose a 14-day Bible Reading plan through the YouVersion app.
This plan is the Fresh Air reading plan, developed from my Pastor Chris Hodges.

Before I think of my next goal, I’d like to pause before making plans of climbing the summit, because I forgot my parka in the car.
What I mean by this is we can often times get bogged down and lost in the planning of all the achievements we would like to see before even reaching the first plateau or goal.
This blog entry may only need to be my personal development of setting my first goal.
Along this journey as I feel more confident in this new routine, will I then choose my second goal to reach.
There is no reason to choose five goals now, only to feel overwhelmed in doing them all at once.
Especially for myself and anyone else who do not typically set goals.

Start strong with clear vision and along the way continue to dream of the next achievement

While planning your goals what do you struggle with the most?

Why do you feel you are struggling with that?

What would help you not struggle as much?

to God be the glory!

God Gets Too Much Credit

This picture says it all for me.
This same thought that “God gets too much credit…” has been embedded into my mind for a couple of months now.
It grieves me that family of mine and other acquaintances choose not to fully believe in this God they have grown up hearing about because of us “Christians” constantly giving our God bad rep.
I know the scripture “All have sinned and fallen short..”. (Romans 3:23)
I also know that God is a God of grace and mercy. (HALLELUJAH)
Neither of these should excuse us of our daily decisions.

These decisions that are noticed more by those that are struggling to believe in our God, rather than us, the people who openly “worship” that God they are searching for.
I put the word worship from the previous line in quotations solely because the worship is primarily the basis for this next scripture, in my opinion.
Isaiah 29:13 says it this way: And the Lord said: “Because this people draw near with their mouth and honor me with their lips, while their hearts are far from me, and their fear of me is a commandment taught by men..”

In the book of Matthew Jesus is having a discussion with a religious leader about how the religious leader, Pharisees, have taken the Word of God and made it convenient for what they needed for themselves in that moment. Jesus quotes Isaiah specifically this part “This people honor me with their lips, but their heart is far from me.”

Look, I know that the cross hairs are focused and dialed in on us as Christians, waiting for us to make a mistake, but know that if the mistake is made with true innocence then He will provide His grace or mercy appropriately.
Also know that if that mistake is made with no true evidence of a [fruitful relationship(Galatians 5:23-23)] with God, the consequences can be delivered by way of the public notification.

Let me leave you with this scripture Joshua 1:9 “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.”

God does not hate fags!
God loves all people!
God does not make our choices for us, but instead allows freewill.
His will is for us to choose Him, and an eternal life with Him, all while leaving it up to us to freely make this decision.

My Moment and I…

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” (John 1:1 ESV)

I had an opportunity to share the Gospel with my dear brother, did I successfully plant a seed? I don’t feel confident that i did. How did it start? What was my opportunity? My nephew has started going to a Christian school now and has asked my brother questions beyond his years at 5 years young. I called my brother on Christmas Day just to tell him and the kids Merry Christmas and that I loved and missed them, when my brother called over his son, Ayden, to ask me the question that I feel my brother has been struggling with the most. The question that was asked with all innocence possible was, “If God created everything, then who created God”

WOW! right? What other 5 year is asking these questions? Is this question a testament of his youth or the possibilities of greatness within his tiny frame? Oh, what a joyous position I could have been in had the question been “Why did Jesus have to die?” or even “How do I know if I am saved and a Christian?” Those are easy right, but who created GOD? That is a question that has yet to be fully developed. My only answer was that no one created God. My answer to my brother was that we have finite minds and God is omniscient. Later on as I had more time to think about what had actually transpired in that moment I was greatly discouraged and researched more on the very question. A standard google search allowed me to hone in on various was to answer this question based on your audience i.e conversation with an Atheist vs a child.

I would like to think that given another opportunity I would be better equipped to answer wholly and bring the Gospel into the conversation. My sole apprehension was that I was speaking to my older brother my opposite.

What I know to be true is that God is moving in my family, and if it takes this “From the lips of children and infants you have ordained praise because of your enemies, to silence the foe and the avenger” Psalm 8:2 then Glory be to God above!

Oh give thanks to the Lord , for he is good; for his steadfast love endures forever! (1 Chronicles 16:34 ESV)

Have you ever wondered What His love is enduring?

A simple Google of the word endure warrants these results:

Suffer (something painful or difficult) patiently.
Tolerate (someone or something).
bear – stand – suffer – tolerate – sustain – undergo

Is it just referring to the cross? No? Because He isn’t still on the cross for His love to endure forever.

In 1 John it tells us why we are able to love Him “We love because he first loved us.”

To answer the initial question: what is His love enduring? His love endures through our choices to figure ourselves out. His love endures my attempts to be perfect as He is perfect. His love just…..endures!

The investment He risked it all for was you! And it’s an honor to work and serve and to live in such a way that would gain return for His name and For anyone who has yet to call on Him.

Be encouraged that His love will endure forever! It endures no matter how many attempts you take.

His Will not my own

My heart for the people

My heart longs for the lost to be saved…in any fashion, near or far!
My heart is to invest in the hungry who share this same passion. If I give what I’ve learned along with what The Holy Spirit is speaking for that particular area, His will is done.

I rather not plan from what I want, but rather search the heart of my Father and find out where He needs me. My hearts contentment lies only in what the Father is speaking.

His cloud is what I will follow. No where else will I feel necessary in my given position.

What does this look like? Currently in a degree program that will satisfy the world, and in a certificate program that satisfies the Father. With both I will be we’ll equipped to GO! Praying with my lovely wife on our direction together I know our hearts are for the unreached both children and young adults. As we continue serving our church, we believe He will network us with whom we need to meet the needs of His Kingdom.
